I couldn't wait to write about the concert but first..
... I would like to ask for prayers for our family. We are approaching our first Christmas without Grandma Jacobs (who died suddenly on August 23rd). The awareness of her absence has intensified lately and I would imagine that it will only get more raw as the days draw closer to Christmas.
Aidan, who really doesn't talk about grandma a lot, shocked me the other day when he told a family friend that he didn't want any presents for Christmas - he just wanted God to send his grandma and Auntie Dee back (Auntie Dee was grandma's sister who died suddenly on March 23rd). I talked with him and told him it doesn't work like that - that God doesn't send people back from Heaven... that once people are in Heaven they don't WANT to come back because it is such a wonderful place..... his response was.... "well, then, maybe we could go to Heaven for Christmas." Oh wow... how to explain this to a 3 year old?
We are all struggling with her absence right now... she was such a vibrant presence wherever she went. We can only pray that 2011 will be easier for us. Losing two close loved ones in just a short 5 months was very difficult. But strangely, I take great comfort in my mother-in-laws final moments....coming soon.
Now, onto the concert.
I was surprised by a couple things... 1). How much shorter Aidan is than anyone else in his class. There is one girl (the one next to him in the picture that is close to his size... but beyond that... he is MILES shorter than everyone else! 2). How "unshy" he was. I have to admit that I had visions of him either putting his head down and not participating or.... seeing us in the audience and run to us crying... but no.. neither happened. He sang when he was supposed to sing and he did actions that went along with the songs and, the cutest thing, when the class sat down to tell a story... he sat on the teacher's lap!
There was a little party afterward with cookies and juice but we couldn't stay long since Brady had a diaper test for Huggies. (Love that diaper testing program). Now Aidan is done with school until January 4th -or something like that... I haven't really looked at the dates closely.
